How to import a bank statement with ChatGPT or Claude

Send a bank statement to ChatGPT or Claude with Manilo connected, and the assistant sorts its rows into your existing Manilo categories. No bank login needed.

To import a bank statement, upload the file to ChatGPT or Claude with Manilo connected and ask the assistant to bring it in. Each row is matched to one of your existing Manilo categories, and the whole statement is saved in one go.

What you need before you import a bank statement

Link your assistant to your Manilo account first, with Connect ChatGPT or Connect Claude and other assistants. Importing this way needs Manilo Cloud, which starts with a 7-day free trial (Plans and pricing). On the free plan, import a bank CSV in the app instead, under Settings > Import > CSV (Support).

Then download the statement from your bank. Any export the assistant can read will do, PDF and CSV included.

Import the statement step by step

  1. Start a chat in the assistant you connected.
  2. Attach the statement file.
  3. Ask for the import in your own words, for example “Import this statement into Manilo.”

Where to see the imported transactions

The assistant replies with a link to your web dashboard, where the new transactions are ready to look through. The same chat can then answer questions about them, such as “Which category did I spend the most on in this statement?”

How to change a category after importing

Tell the assistant which rows to move and the category they belong in. It can move many rows in one request. When none of your categories fits, it can create a new one.

Does the assistant get access to your bank account?

No bank account is connected at any point: the assistant works from the statement you upload, and in Manilo it reads only what your request needs. Privacy and your data lists what it can see.
